ABOUT
Bullying among teenagers has become a pervasive issue with far-reaching consequences, affecting both the victims and the perpetrators. By examining various studies and real-life examples, bullying not only inflicts psychological distress and trauma but also leads to detrimental outcomes, such as depression, anxiety, and even suicidal ideation. “Moreover, suicide rates among teens have been increasing for the last couple of years; from 6.3% in 2009 to 7.8% in 2011; and more youth suicides have been reported as a result of bullying.” It disrupts the formation of healthy peer relationships and can impede academic success, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive interventions and support systems to address this pressing societal concern. With bullying on the rise and no chance of slowing down, it is time to act by properly educating the majority about bullying, and showing the effects of bullying on teens’ mental and school performance, for solutions to this awful epidemic.
